Every day, the chemical industry is working on developing new technologies to improve lives around the globe. These companies invest millions of dollars in research produced by the brightest minds; chemists, environmentalists, and many other researchers. They employ thousands of hard working people from communities around the world, all to keep us safe, healthy and make our every day lives more convenient and enjoyable.
Many chemical companies do not make products that are sold directly to consumers, so their company names would not be familiar to most people. And because of one-sided or sensationalized TV reports and newspaper articles, some people have a less than favorable perception of big chemical companies.
We’re one of those quiet companies whose name is mostly not known by consumers. Our name is Albemarle. For decades, we’ve been focused on improving chemicals to save lives, enrich the quality of life and protect the planet. Whether you are watching a television, sitting on a sofa, taking a commercial airline flight, or swallowing ibuprofen to relieve a headache, we’ve been apart of making those products perform and keep you safe. However we’ve not spent a lot of time or energy touting our work and accomplishments.
We know society, business, NGO’s (non-government organizations), government leaders and organizations everywhere are stepping up their interest and actions concerning issues of environment and safety. We share those values. We also believe everyone deserves all the facts and the complete truth about chemicals, technologies and products that are part of our lives and that may end up in the earth after the product use is complete.
So we are raising our voice and our public visibility so you have the whole story.
You’ll be hearing more from us. And we want to hear from you. You may have seen one of our ads in the Wall Street Journal that introduces a new line of eco-friendly technology called Earthwise™ and our first fire safety product GreenArmor™. GreenArmor is a breakthrough in fire safety solutions because it saves lives and is friendly to the earth because it is non bioaccumulative and has highly recyclable properties.

You may also run across one of our educational blogs like this one on Fire Safety for consumers, our Green Lab blog on environmental innovations or The Earthwise Fire Safety blog for professional chemists, engineers and the plastics industry. We’ll be active in social media networks and continue to do our part in the communities around the world through the efforts the employee-run Albemarle Foundation. We’ll also continue to develop and lead more environmental programs like VECAP (Voluntary Emissions Control Programme) to encourage our customers and industry partners to do their part to protect the planet too.
Together we can make a difference.
